The latest update from the Troll Lords:
"Hello all,
I had a chance to talk to Davis about this project this afternoon. He and Peter are about to wrap the whole thing up me thinks. Gary has a few last minute changes and needs to preview the whole, but I see no reason why it won't wrap up next week or the week following... and then off to press!
We are working hard to get this puppy out by Gencon!
Steve"
PS - Jerry, if this violates the 'no C&C talk' policy then please delete it.

I was excited for a sec, but I assume this means the Yggsburgh book vs. the first real Castle Zagyg book, right?

Yes, I believe you are correct. But certainly excitement is still warranted, yes?

Nope Bones, announcements about new source books by Gary is fine by me; as long as things don't degenerate into a flame war like previous.
I am looking forward to the new book, i am happy... excited is possibly an overstatement for me. I just hope that when i get back to running that the rest of the books will come out timely enough that the group can go from Point A to Point Z without having months on end of creating tons of filler... a little is alright.
Call me lazy in my old age. But I am getting tired of creating modules from scratch. Probably why I rehash old modules now that i ran yrs past or run Gary's series modules all the time.
My (A)D&D creative juices have never been the same since the great flame out of 1989.

I just hope that when i get back to running that the rest of the books will come out timely enough that the group can go from Point A to Point Z without having months on end of creating tons of filler... a little is alright. I don't expect Castle Zagyg Vol. 2-x will be out anytime soon. AFAICT Gary and Rob haven't even really started working on them in earnest yet, aside from drafting new maps and talking things over in broad terms (and of course ~30 years of preliminary playtesting ). And considering that with both CZ vol. 1 and Hall of Many Panes (which I haven't bought yet -- no stores near me have it, but I just noticed it's shipping in 24 hours from amazon @ 34% off, so I'll probably be ordering it from there soon) turnaround time between Gary turning in a 'finished' manuscript and the product actually hitting the shelves has been well over a year, I honestly wouldn't expect to see CZ vol. 2 until late 2006, and probably not the final volume (7?) until c. 2009. That said, CZ vol. I is supposed to be chock-full of good stuff (town, wilderness, and several 'mini-dungeons'), and there will be CZ vol. 1.5 (aka RJK's "Dark Chateau," described as "like the Moathouse to CZ's Temple of Elemental Evil") to tide us over as well, but both of those are newly-created material and not the "1972 leftovers" that we're all most eager to see ;D

The trolls have had Rob's completed Dark Chateau ms. in hand since January of 2004 IIRC, so I'm really hoping that they get these abysmal delays worked through.
That said, we will be waiting awhile for more of the Castle to appear, unless Gary and Rob can really dedicate time to the Castle in a focused manner....
