How'd you make one of these for a PC or NPC class?
It would have to have bad a$$ reqs. (original starwars standards). Maybe start as a LG fighter class, then (5-8) switch to a monk. At 8th level monk you get trained by a jedi (a subclass of monk).
Maybe instead of spells you get powers like a paladin at diff. levels. Say once per day per level of Jedi. Of course the name Jedi would have to be replaced with something else.
1st. Telekinesis (50 pds a level) 2nd. Confusion 3rd. Telepathy 4th. Detect lie, paralytic touch 5th. Hypnotism (as Illus. spell)
6th. Build Magical Sword (equiv. to light saber) that reflects magical force attacks at some % (say 1st level 50%, 2nd level 40% and so on ) and creates an invisible shield force like the 1st level MU spell. This is the only sword a jedi will use.
7th. See in low light 8th. Able to train 1st level Jedi. 9th. Jump (as 1st level MU spell) 10th. Static shock 12th Plane shift
The idea is that the monk physical powers get replaced by focusing on mental spell like powers. Like psionics but more defined.

LOL, I tried this after seeing Return of the Jedi as a kid. Being a kid, I had no scruples about making Jedi incredibly overpowered...and about conviently having a character who qualified. To my credit, I never seriously used the class or the character.
I think I too had the sort of bardic progression where you started as a fighter and then moved on to other classes before becoming a jedi. Not quite borne out by the later movies what with the padawan kids and all, but that's not a big deal.

Ignore a lot of stuff towards the end of the Gygax Era (as his control was slipping away) and toss everything after the split.
